Queen Elizabeth II Silver Jubilee Endowment Fund for Study in a Second Official Language Award

Objective: To encourage young Canadians who wish to improve their proficiency in their second official language to pursue studies, on a full-time basis, at a Canadian university which functions in the other official language and in a milieu in which that language predominates.

Eligibility:
– Open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada.
Courses must be undertaken on the campus of a Canadian university which is a member, or affiliated to a member of the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada (AUCC).
– The award is applicable towards full-time studies for applicants currently enrolled in the second or third year of their first bachelor degree program. Candidates attending an institution in Quebec can be enrolled in the first year of their first bachelor degree program.
– Students must have sufficient ability in their second official language to pursue their studies in that language.

Fields of Study: All disciplines, except translation.
Value
:  $7,000, plus travel costs.
Number of Awards:
  Up to 3.
Duration
:  One year, non-renewable.

SFU Deadline date: November 30, 2011

The application and all official transcripts, reference letters and documents must be submitted to SFU Financial Aid and Awards by November 30, 2011. 

Incomplete applications will not be considered.

SFU have to nominate only one applicant by the AUCC deadline of December 15, 2011.

The nomination form, page 6 on the pdf application form, will be completed by Financial Aid and Awards at Simon Fraser University for the selected candidate.

Financial Aid and Awards will forward the nomination and the complete application form to AUCC by their deadline of December 15, 2011.
