Megan Branson is the founder of Olla Urban Flower Project, a social enterprise plant and flower shop located in Vancouver’s Downtown East Side. Olla Flowers sells ethically grown flowers and promotes local manufacturing with a mandate to provide flexible employment to Downtown East Side residents. Megan participated in the Fall 2009 session of Semester in Dialogue, examining the role of art in community development. Understanding the tensions between corporate development and community development in the Downtown Eastside helped her to create a business model that promotes sustainability, creativity, and social inclusion.
