The Intellectual Property Issues in Cultural Heritage (IPinCH) project, based at Simon Fraser University (SFU), is an international research collaboration designed to assist scholars, institutions, descendant communities, policymakers, and other stakeholders in understanding and addressing intellectual property issues arising in cultural heritage. The IPinCH core research team consists of 50 archaeologists, anthropologists, lawyers, ethicists, museologists, and other specialists from seven countries, as well as over 25 partner organizations. The IPinCH project is seeking a part-time Communications Specialist to take the lead in developing and implementing a communications strategy that helps team members communicate effectively with each other and with broader audiences, including those from academic, community, government, policy, funding, and media sectors. The Communications Specialist will possess excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, have a good understanding of value creation through knowledge mobilization, have proven experience working with a broad range of communication tools and media, demonstrate initiative and self-motivation, and show an aptitude for working collaboratively in a team setting. Experience working in a university research setting and with Indigenous communities is an asset.
This is a part-time position (20 hours/week) with pay commensurate with qualifications and experience and competitive with equivalent SFU administrative sectors. Salary range: $21,000 – $26,000 CAD per annum ($20 – $25 per hour), commensurate with qualifications and experience.
