Web CT Student Evaluators: Volunteer and Honorarium opportunities

The LMS Replacement Project is currently looking for student evaluators to help test three candidate learning management systems by working through a series of tasks individually and/or in a classroom setting. You may signup for both.

(1) INDIVIDUAL TESTING (volunteer based)

You will be given a series of tasks in each system that you must attempt. In order for your input to be used in the evaluation process, you must rate all three systems. We encourage all participants to provide comments, although not required. Ratings and comments you provide will be viewed by members of the selection committee and staff supporting the LMS Replacement Project. The estimated time to evaluate all three systems is three hours. We also ask all evaluators to devote roughly the same amount of time and effort to each LMS in the interest of fairness. You will have until 4:00 p.m. August 24, 2012 to submit one completed evaluation form to Donald Mok (dym@sfu.ca).

To signup, please e-mail Donald Mok (dym@sfu.ca) with your SFU login I.D. He will contact you when you have been given access to the three systems and provide you with any additional details.

(2) CLASSROOM TESTING (honorarium of $45)

You also have the opportunity to participate in a class taught by Lorna Ramsay, Art Education Instructor, or Daria Ahrensmeier, TLC Educational Consultant. You will be led through three consecutive one-hour lectures and given an honorarium of $45 at the end of the classroom evaluation. In each one-hour lecture, they will teach material and have you complete a series of tasks in a candidate LMS either individually or as a group. Lorna Ramsay’s and Linda Apps’, Art Education Lecturer, course “Writing Skill” will be taught on Wednesday August 8 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. Daria Ahrensmeier’s science course (first year physics/math) will be taught on Tuesday August 14 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. No prior experience and expertise is required. Seats are limited on a first-come-first-serve basis.

To signup, please e-mail Donald Mok (dym@sfu.ca) with your preferred date; you can only participate in one of the two lessons.

If you have any issues or questions, please do not hesitate to call the LMS Replacement Project office at 778-782-9438 between 9:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. or e-mail Donald Mok using the aforementioned address.
