SFU Public Square Needs Volunteers

Dear Dialogue Students and Alumni,

As many of you may be aware, SFU is moving forward with the implementation of a new strategic vision to become a more “Engaged University”. The SFU Public Square will act as the signature program to advance the university’s community engagement strategy. As outlined in our February vision statement “SFU will be BC’s public square for enlightenment and dialogue on key public issues, and will be known as the institution to which the community looks for education, discussion and solutions.”

The official launch of SFU Public Square will take place on the morning of June 19th, 2012. We are looking for 10-15 volunteers to support the SFU Public Square team and assist with the launch. The event’s guests will include local dignitaries, policy makers, SFU stakeholders, Vancouver Foundation staff and board and community partners; it will be an exciting opportunity to network with community members and get involved with a great new SFU initiative!

The time commitment for volunteers will be approximately 4-5 hours (including a quick meeting in advance of the event on Friday the 15th). Please e-mail myself (jpichett@sfu.ca) or Janet Webber (jwebber@sfu.ca) if you are interested in volunteering to help with this event. Your generosity will be much appreciated!

Best wishes,

Jackie Pichette
Research and Communications Coordinator
