VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY

Position: SPEC Zero Waste Crew at EPIC
Organization: Society Promoting Environmental Conservation (SPEC) http://www.spec.bc.ca
Location: Vancouver, British Columbia

SPEC is piloting a new initiative, the Zero Waste Crew, a group of specialized volunteers who can assist event with waste reduction goals in Vancouver.

We’ve partnered with EPIC, the Sustainability show as our first event. We are recruiting 40 volunteers to become waste experts and help educate the public about waste reduction.

Volunteers at EPIC will facilitate at the 10 recycling/composting stations at the event and also act as Zero Waste ‘floaters’, working with vendors and Zero Waste coordinators to ensure things move smoothly.

Volunteers are asked to commit to an orientation session on the evening of Monday, May 7 plus two shifts (3-4 hours each) at the event which runs from May 11th to 13th.

Volunteers receive passes to EPIC throughout the event, a Zero Waste t-shirt, and snacks during their shift. Also expect to learn a lot about waste reduction and diversion as well as the organizations involved.

Help us make a difference and increase your skills! Become a part of the Zero Waste Crew.

Contact mnewell@spec.bc.ca if you would like to get involved.
