2nd Annual Campus Projects on Display at Woodwards

Collective Artist Statement from First Year Visual Art students in FPA 161, School for the Contemporary Arts, SFU

We, the first year visual art students at the School for the Contemporary Arts, Woodward’s Campus engage with site specificity, public art, and explorations of space with an emphasis on social histories, sensory notations, and transfers of spatial and material properties across mediums. Through close analysis of space and site, our investigations consider relationships between art, environment, and viewer. The Second Annual Campus Projects at the Woodward’s site is the culmination of our semester’s efforts in FPA 161 in partnership with the CityStudio project.  While the theme of sustainability is one conceptual anchor for our installations, this consideration was interpreted in the broadest manner.
