Canada’s support to the U.N. peace-support mission in the Democratic Republic of CongoColonel Ivy Miezitis, speaker:

In July 2010, Col. Miezitis was appointed Deputy Chief of Staff Operations and Plans for the United Nations Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of Congo (MONUSCO). He led the Force Headquarters’ planning, guidance and execution of peacekeeping operations for the 18,000 United Nation troops operating in the Congo. In July 2011, Col Miezitis was appointed Chief of Staff of Chief Military Personnel at National Defence Headquarters in Ottawa.

ETHICS & the MILITARY:
Commander Timothy Kerr, speaker:

Commander Kerr joined the Navy in 1988 and has served in a number of capacities including counter-insurgencies in the Persian Gulf, deployments to the Baltic and Mediterranean as part of Standing NATO Maritime Group 1, and deployments to the Gulf of Aden as part of NATO’s counter-piracy operation off of the Horn of Africa.
