Presented By: Community Arts Council of Vancouver
Jul 27 2011, 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre

181 Roundhouse Mews, Vancouver
Naomi Steinberg will be presenting and leading a dialogue on her work as it relates to environmental arts. Naomi’s work in the last 9 years has been closely focused on community engagement and performance.
As Executive Director of the Vancouver Society of Storytelling (VSOS), Naomi has developed the ELEMENTAL initiative, which uses stories about the elements (air, earth, water, fire, metal) as the metaphoric access point for an intergenerational story-share and workshop series.
During ELEMENTAL: earth extracts from community stories will be represented in a cob ‘storytellers’ bench’ to be built in Robson Park (13th and Kingsway). This site is an important geographic locater as it is part of a watershed from which St. George Creek flows towards the False Creek Flats, networking with many other underground streams along the way. The bench is in support of community groups who have been working towards day-lighting the creek.
