The Land Conservancy is hiring a part-time head gardener.
Primarily, the Head Gardener is responsible for the on-going restoration, maintenance and development of several heritage gardens in the Lower Mainland. The main focus is the Eagles Estate Heritage Garden on Deer Lake in Burnaby. The Head Gardener will also undertake maintenance and restoration activities at the Baldwin House, Historic Joy Kogawa House, BC Binning Residence, and other properties as required. This includes preparing annual workplans, schedules and budgets.
The Head Gardener is in charge of recruiting, supervising and directing volunteer gardeners to ensure that the work is carried out in an appropriate manner. The Head Gardener may also be involved in overseeing any contract work done on the site. Additionally, the Head Gardener will develop and maintain key partnerships with local government, community organizations, etc. The role also involves approaching businesses, groups, and individuals for donations of materials and tools for the sites.
